[[ LogSeq ]], a powerful tool to leverage your notes & thoughts.
One thing that has alluded me for a very very long time is a way to capture notes and thoughts in a way that could retain the context and connections....meet [[LoqSeq]]. (pronounced log sek)
As it stands now I have over 2900 pages stored in [[LogSeq]]. These range from conversations I have had with my father & wife, to business ideas, personal journal entries and random thoughts, it all goes into [[LogSeq]].
To understand LoqSeq you need to understand a few basic structures, rules and terms to make it work for you. To create a "node or keyword", start typing and [[add double square brackets]] to the word/words you want to make a reference point which we will link to later on. eg [[Business]] or [[Throughput Accounting]].
These can be really anything you want although I generally tag:
Names eg. [[W. Edwards Deming]]
Places eg. [[Brisbane]]
Ideas, topics and concepts by name eg. [[Value Investing]] or [[Running costs]]
Organisations and/or businesses eg. [[Harvard University]] or [[Berkshire Hathaway]]
Keep in mind these [[nodes]] will be the lattice work you build off and will be used to find your ideas later on, so it is best to be general in one sense but specific in another, this will allow for correct referencing.
[[LogSeq]] does have an abundance of features and plug-ins that can [[automate]] and assist with some of these tasks and perform [[Auto Linking]] or [[leverage]] [[GPT-3]] to assist in your mind mapping and building off already captured notes, but a lot of the value comes from forming links in the way you understand them.
The first rule is that you can't really know anything if you just remember isolated facts and try and bang 'em back. If the facts don't hang together on a latticework of theory, you don't have them in a usable form
[[Charlie Munger]]
In my experience jumping straight into [[LogSeq]] and using it has been the best way to develop my understanding of its strengths, and figure out my workflow in order to derive [[value]] using it.
